About us | Ko wai Mātou

  • Our Te Rapa site is one of Fonterra's largest manufacturing sites. At 41 hectares, the site makes enough product to fill 48.5 shipping containers each day. At Te Rapa we produce whole and skim milk, and instant whole milk powders along with cream, butter, pure dairy milk fat, cream cheese and frozen cream products.

  • An exciting permanent opportunity has come about for a Health & Safety Advisor supporting our Te Rapa site. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager Te Rapa/Upper Waikato, you will get the opportunity to develop your health & safety career with plenty of variety and challenges.
As the H&S Advisor, you will build trusted relationships with stakeholders and coach on best practice health and safety.

You will work towards the continuous improvement of our health and safety capability and support the proactive management of risks and incident investigations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to ensure best practice H&S standards.
  • Undertake Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) with frontline workers.
  • Facilitate incident investigations on site.
  • Support sites permit to work improvement and use.
  • Carry out trend analysis for the site and undertake site assessments.
  • Ensure the H&S management systems are up to date and regulatory changes are adhered to.

  • You will not only have knowledge in health and safety but will also know how to guide and influence staff based on best practice health and safety standards. A passionate relationshipbuilder, your stakeholder relationship skills will be second to none, and your natural resilience and ability to manage expectations proactively will see you go far in this role.

To make an impact in this role you will have:

  • Strong technical health and safety expertise ideally from a manufacturing or high-risk environment.
  • Exposure to process safety.
  • Ability to instill trust across a diverse workforce and establish meaningful relationships with stakeholders.
  • Preferably hold a relevant health and safety certificate or diploma (NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment plus being adaptable to change and ambiguity.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances management and legislation is desirable.
  • Exposure in hazardous risk assessments and HS event plans.
