We are seeking the right individual to join our small Organisational Development team.

At either a Senior or Lead Advisor level, we are seeking a skilled Organisational Development practitioner who will think outside the box, and bring new ideas to the table.

Accordingly, you will be able to engage and influence a wide variety of stakeholders across all levels within a large and complex organisation.


Skills we are looking for include:

  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills;
  • The proven ability to influence, persuade and negotiate at all levels;
  • The awareness, flexibility and knowledge to adjust your delivery and content to the needs of the audience;
  • Experience designing and delivering creative learning and development experiences that lead to behaviour change; and
  • Experience designing and implementing new solutions/interventions that demonstrate a usercentred approach and the ability to operate in a complex organisation.

As a senior member of the Organisational Development Directorate, you will lead and contribute to initiatives that align to our organisational and people strategies and build the capability of our people.

You will provide strong intellectual and thought leadership contributing to a wide variety of Organisational Development programmes in areas including culture, engagement, performance and development, leadership development and much more.

The Organisational Development Programmes (OD Programmes) unit is part of the Organisational Development (OD) Directorate, which also includes Career and Talent Management, Defence Psychology and Organisational Research.

OD Programmes is responsible for a range of broad OD outcomes, linked to the strategic direction of the NZDF.

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance
- most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
