Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand Emerge Aotearoa Full time

He kōrero mō mātou | About Us
Emerge Aotearoa is a national provider of mental health, addiction, disability, offender rehabilitation, wellbeing and housing services. We believe that everyone is capable of living full and rich lives in their communities of choice. In every aspect of our work we are committed to helping whānau be the best they can be.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role
Tiakina is an established youth mental health and wellbeing hub, based in Christchurch.

Five different services are delivered from the hub, but it's the Community Wellbeing Programme that is meeting needs in new ways.

It provides daily group activity sessions, morning and evening, for young people aged 14-19 years who are under child and family services.

Its aim is to provide structure and support for positive mental health and wellbeing.

Work collaboratively with your team and external stakeholders to provide support to youth with goal setting, skill development (e.g. life skills, relationship skills and communication skills), and assist with educational and employment opportunities.

We are open from 8:00am - 10:00pm Monday to Friday and from 11:00am - 7:30pm on the weekends so, your shifts will be a mixture of 8:00am - 4:30pm, 11:00am - 7:30pm, and 1:30pm - 10:00pm.

This is a part-time role working rostered shifts, Monday to Sunday.

He kōrero mōu | About You

We run two different sessions every day so, an understanding of group dynamics and how to facilitate groups would be an advantage, however; you would be working alongside a teammate so, you could learn this on the job.

We are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, vibrant, confident and compassionate to work in our service.

You'll naturally be a problem solver, quick thinker and enjoy connecting with the community in line with the reintegration plan.

You'll use your non-judgmental attitude and belief to encourage clients to change and grow. You'll have the ability to easily build professional relationships with our tāngata whaiora, while maintaining strong professional boundaries.

To be successful in this role, you'll have or be working towards a Level 4 qualification in Health & Wellbeing (or higher) and previous experience working with youth.

Experience in mental health is preferred, however, not a requirement. You'll be culturally respectful and non-judgmental - a strong understanding of Māori and Pacifica cultures is preferred.

Ko tā mātou mahi | We offer

In addition to driving change in YOUR community, you'll be doing so in a national organisation with opportunities for you to grow and develop.

You'll join a group of people that live by our values - which means you can take pride in not just what we achieve, but HOW we achieve it.

Importantly, we advocate for your wellbeing With three days of wellbeing leave on offer, you can proactively manage your health and wellbeing.

AND finally, you'll want to work here because we are committed to diversity and inclusion. So, you don't have to worry about putting on a fake work persona. Come as you are, and just be YOU
