Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Medical Officer with strong leadership skills and experience to enhance patient care through direct input into the strategy, leadership, efficiency, communication and processes of the Surgical Directorate in Te Toka Tumai.

The position reports to the Directorate Director and is professionally accountable to the Chief Medical Officer.


You will join a dynamic directorate leadership team to develop new models of patient care and support in devising health pathways to provide quality, patient centred, and timely health care within the Surgical service.

In this role, you will be supporting primary care workforce development with a key focus on upholding Te Toka Tumai's obligation to Te Tiriti O Waitangi and bring equitable health outcomes.

You will be responsible for managing the primary-secondary interface on behalf of the Directorate, liaising with the other Directors Primary Care and collectively working with PHOs, General Practice, mana whenua organisations and other primary care organisations.

The role is permanent, part-time (8 hours per week), based at Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital.
