About the role


As part of this full-time role in the Centre for Sport Science and Human Performance (CSSHP) Team you will teach and contribute to the development and delivery of several qualifications including the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and the Certificate in Exercise.


The Centre has a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership, and the qualifications listed above are underpinned by an experiential approach to learning which links industry connection, work experience, education, and personal and professional development.

Importance is placed upon ensuring that graduates are work-ready and well prepared to gain employment in the sport and exercise sector.


This position will require knowledge and experience within a range of sport science fields including sports coaching, nutrition, exercise programming, business, and health contexts.

This is a permanent 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours per week) appointment.

To be successful you will ideally have;

  • A relevant degreelevel qualification, preferably a Masters qualification, within an area of
sport science, health, or equivalent experience.

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in adult education
  • Practical knowledge of Tikanga Māori and cultural values relevant to Māori and Pasifika
communities.

  • An understanding of effective teaching strategies to support successful levels of
achievement at Level 4 and above.

  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team.
