Our Hautapu site is in the heart of the Waikato and has been a leader in dairy manufacturing for more than 120 years.

It's the headquarters of our protein and cheese technical teams in New Zealand and employs more than 300 staff.


Nestled between Hamilton and Cambridge with short drive times to Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo and Raglan, our Hautapu site offers the perfect blend of work-life balance.


About the opportunity | Te whai waahi


As part of our engineering team based in Hautapu, your role will help identify and provide a breadth of knowledge across a range of projects and operational areas for improvement to optimise plant reliability.


You will champion our asset management plans, undertake asset failure analysis, including facilitation and mentoring, for asset related problem solving and management of corrective actions to ensure deliverables are met and optimise maintenance operational costs and increase production plant availability.


As Shut Manager, you will provide programme management expertise to support both the engineering team and plant leadership to deliver on major and minor shut with a balanced focus on Safety, Quality, Sustainability, Capability and Cost.

The key to your success will be your ability to engage with both internal stakeholders as well as vendors to balance risk and make decisions to optimise our spend.

To support key the site's strategies and initiatives, you will:

  • Own the asset management plans across your assigned portfolio.
  • Understand the core regulations that we need to comply with across your portfolio.
  • Deploy Fonterra and Global best practice engineering standards by building into local plans.
  • Be able to build strong relationships with the trades team, operators and management to deliver sustainable solutions.

This is a complex role that will see you liaise across a range of stakeholders and team members, so you'll need to have great communication and people skills, along with the ability to influence.

In addition to a trade or engineering background.

other key skills and experience include:

  • Degree qualification in mechanical engineering (or equivalent experience with trade qualification)
  • Demonstration of a structured project management approach
  • A background in manufacturing
  • Advanced problemsolving skills
  • Experience in asset lifecycle management from developing trade checklists to capital planning and execution
