The Resource Recovery Team are the people behind a range of services and facilities supplied to our community through Contractors.

They make sure your kerbside collection of organics, recycling and refuse happens each week.

They ensure your organics are processed at our Bromley facility, manage a material recovery facility for your recycling, and operate four transfer stations across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.

Above all of this they are passionate about education and raising awareness of waste minimisation and deliver programmes to our communities and schools.


About the role:


As the Contract Supervisor - Kerbside Collections you will be working directly with our Contractor to ensure this service delivery meets the Contract requirements.

On a day-to-day basis this will involve

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the Contractor's staff and problemsolving issues with the Contractor as they arise
  • Providing technical advice to internal and external customers including the maintenance contractors
  • Ensuring finances are well managed and that we are getting value for money.
  • Undertaking regular audits that address value for money, and quality and compliance issues.
  • Reduce and/or stop the impact of waste into the environment in line with Council's objectives.

About you:

This role would suit those with a Contract management and logistics background.

Strong interpersonal skills, planning skills, strong communication skills and an ability to problem solve in a live environment would be beneficial.


To be successful ideally you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification such as degree in engineering, business and / or project management
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience in waste management or waste management industry
  • National diploma in contract and asset management
  • At least 5 years previous contract management experience in related field
