Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

Our staff of Te Kura Whakangungu Kaiako | School of Teacher Education are looking for a new colleague who specialises in Primary Teacher Education.

This position is a full-time and continuing (i.e., permanent) position. The position will be appointed at the level of Lecturer. The role will contribute to teaching in initial teacher education programmes (bachelor and graduate diploma levels).

Mōu | Who You Are

Applicants should be able to demonstrate their passion and experience in areas that align with the Te Kura Whakangungu Kaiako | School of Teacher Education such as culturally responsive and sustainable teaching and learning, equity in education, mātauranga Māori, and teacher professional inquiry.

The person appointed to this position must meet the following:

  • examples from own practice of culturally responsive teaching practices
- commitment to upholding values, tikanga, kawa, and traditions as guided by Ngāi Tūāhuriri, the mana whenua
- experience with collaborative or team teaching
- a minimum of 5 years of recent teaching experience in the primary sector
- innovative integration of digital technologies in teaching and learning practices
- an understanding of current, research-based teaching methods and theories for primary teaching
- experience in leadership roles or activities appropriate for teaching (e.g., curriculum development, inquiry collaborations, community roles)
- experience mentoring other teachers or adult learners

  • New Zealand teacher registration.

The following will be advantages for applicants:

  • experience teaching online
- experience teaching in a tertiary sector
- experience working with Pasifika and/or Māori communities
- fluency in te reo Māori
- continuing study, for example towards a Masters qualification.
