Bays Joinery is a 31-year-old, award-winning business based in Nelson. We are looking for an awesome detailer who is also a skilled joiner or cabinetmaker with project management experience. You will be responsible for projects including house lots of residential interior joinery and a variety of commercial work. You will have extensive knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, appliances, and hardware.

You will be a great communicator, problem solver and team player who can balance the needs of customers with sensible commercial decision making.


In this role you join a team responsible for:

  • The successful completion of projects on time, within budget.
  • Site measuring, detailing, purchasing, and CNC programming using Microvellum.
  • Liaising with designers, factory, installers, subcontractors, builders, and clients.

Competencies required:

  • A positive attitude with problem solving abilities.
  • Logical thinking and strong computer skills.
  • At least 5 years post apprenticeship bespoke joinery or cabinet making experience.
  • Ability to follow and improve processes.
  • Selfmotivated, reliable, and well organised.
  • Leadership qualities with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and take responsibility.
