Āu Mahi | What You Will Do


As an experienced Device Experience Product Manger you will lead and enable a transformation in the end-user device experience at the University of Canterbury (UC), by delivering a defined end-user device strategy.

Through the effective leadership of your team they will empower end users with a seamless and efficient computing experience that enhances productivity and enables them to achieve their goals.


Leveraging the best cloud, automation, and Ai, you will enable agility for staff and students, enabling a 'teach and learn, anything, anywhere, anytime' capability for UC and unshackling the need for on-premise, physical location computing labs.


The device experience strategy will focus on customer experience and usability both in back-end systems and on the end-user device itself.

It will enable a secure and modern approach to all aspects of device management to reduce support calls and improve overall efficiency.

As a Digital leader, you will foster and champion a customer-centric, service-obsessed mindset while enabling agile and lean ways of working within and amongst our teams.


Mōu | Who You Are


You will have considerable (10+ years) experience managing the delivery of complex managed desktop services including formal hardware and software asset management (preferably within a tertiary education environment).

Ideally you will hold a Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology related field (NZQA Level 7) or relevant work experience and be ITIL v4 Certified.

Microsoft Azure Cloud Certifications would be advantageous.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience with use of cloud for virtualisation of desktop
  • Minimum 5+ years leading IT
  • Extensive understanding of core ITIL practices g. Incident, Change, Problem.
  • Experience of delivering ICT services to a Service Level Agreement with an internal or external
  • Experience fostering and leading cultural change within
  • Experience with leading performance management of team
  • Excellent communication, group presentation and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to write and deliver succinct business proposals and plans.
  • Financial literacy to forecast and manage team and departmental budgets and
  • Demonstrated experience operating in M365 and particularly leveraging Teams, Sharepoint Online for collaboration with a positive outcome.
  • Effective motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution
  • An ongoing commitment to own professional development, including keeping uptodate with relevant industry developments and appropriate training.
  • Active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga (protocols and processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and valuing te reo Māori.
  • Competency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga is an
