Te Piriti is a Special Treatment Unit which delivers high quality psychological services to tāne in our care who have harmed children through sexual offending.

Te Piriti has been successful in terms of reducing recidivism and integrating tikanga Māori principles using a group-oriented, cognitive-behavioural treatment approach.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Manager Psychological Services will provide professional leadership and supervision for a group of highly skilled clinical psychologists who are providing effective service delivery to help us reduce re-offending and contribute to improving the lives of our communities.

In this role you will maintain the ongoing provision of quality psychological and clinical services through the monitoring of service delivery, aligned to policy and procedural requirements.

You will also be dedicated to an environment of continuous improvement by evaluating emerging best practices, whilst ensuring our code of ethics is upheld.

The role requires knowledge of professional practise issues in research, assessment and treatment in the criminal justice psychological area.

Specifically, the Manager Psychological Services is responsible for:

  • Providing quality psychological services including assessment, treatment, supervision, monitoring, training, research, management of contractedin services and referral to appropriate agencies where necessary;
  • Leading, developing and supervising a team of psychological service staff;
  • Managing relations with other services, agencies and groups.

Along with these skills you will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Registered Psychologist
  • High level of competence in psychological assessment and treatment
  • Be knowledgeable in professional practise areas of research, evaluation and treatment in the criminal justice sector
  • Have proven relationship and resource management skills
  • Demonstrate cultural responsiveness
  • Be committed to continually improving service delivery
