Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Kotahi anō te kaupapa:
ko te oranga o te iwi', 'There is only one purpose to our work: the wellness and wellbeing of people'
Ara Poutama Aotearoa is committed to providing high quality psychological approaches to the people in our management. Humanising and healing is one of the key principles of Hōkai Rangi, our over-arching strategic direction.
We are establishing a new psychological services team, based at Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility ARWCF. The team will establish and lead the Special Treatment Unit facility to provide specialised services for women in Auckland. We currently have an opportunity for a committed individual to undertake the role of Reintegration Co-ordinator in our team.

As Reintegration Co-ordinator you will work alongside the psychologists and group facilitators to co-ordinate the reintegration planning, wrap-around services and eventual release of women in our care engaged in our treatment services.

The role develops a sound Departmental, governmental and non-government network associated with meeting the reintegration, well-being and risk-associated needs of participants.

You will also work closely with the Kaupapa Māori Practitioner in the team to link in the whānau of the women in our care and source other cultural services that may be required.

You may also be involved in delivering training and/or advice and support to other related Departmental staff roles.

A formal qualification in Social Work, Psychology or similar would be an advantage and demonstrated professional leadership in a relevant area and/or an extended period of work experience in Case Management or Community Corrections.

If you have the following skills, knowledge and experience then we would love to hear from you:

  • Knowledge of the Corrections/Justice operational environments within New Zealand.
  • Cultural Competence
  • Understanding of requirements under the Health Practitioners Act and Psychologists' Code of Ethics.
  • Ability to write professional case notes and contributions to psychology reports.
  • Proven experience in maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and external providers.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and organise work to achieve objectives and deliver results.
  • Experience in identifying and managing relevant information sources relating to a business issue.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice sector and relevant legislation and policies and demonstrated ability to analyse complex policy and legislative issues and to formulate and manage related projects.
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti O Waitangi

Strong problem-solving, team-building and influencing skills are essential, as is the ability to model pro-social behaviour and to represent the therapeutic community in a positive manner.

Being part of Ara Poutama is about being part of a team, working together to ensure that offenders are kept secure and treated fairly and consistently.

To apply, please submit a tailored CV and a cover letter describing your motivation for applying.

Alignment to our kaupapa is critical to our success - we ask that you provide examples which reflect and demonstrate our organisation values.
