In this newly created role, you'll be responsible for leading our Line One Core Risk team to champion and provide centralised leadership for line 1 risk, compliance, and conduct, and drive mature risk practices across Heartland Bank in New Zealand.

You'll manage the governance aspects of allocated risk, compliance and conduct frameworks, centralised operational risk, compliance and assurance monitoring and reporting, and provide support to the frontline for escalated items.

You'll also play an important role in leading and coaching your direct reports to create a high performing team who deliver to a high standard.

You're not afraid of rolling up your sleeves, handle complexity with ease and you're known for being great to work with.

Your attention to detail is second to none and enjoy working in an ever-changing growing company.

You're a pro with:
Proven track record of building risk maturity - developing and/or maintaining risk, compliance and conduct practices.

Leadership experience and growth potential to provide oversight, coaching and development for direct reports and proactively collaborate with and support teams across the broader business.

Strongly influential, building rapport with and confidence of stakeholders at all levels (internal and external).
Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
Effective time-management skills - ability to manage time effectively while working on multiple projects and with deadlines.
