Tēnei Tūranga | About this roleThe Team Manager, Change leads and manages the Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate, Change Management team to ensure that change approaches and interventions, frameworks and tools enable effective delivery of change across the Corporate group's work programme.
- Leads and actively supports the development of Change Specialists, including providing training, feedback and coaching.
- Assesses the scope and scale of change to determine the most appropriate change approach and the resourcing needed to achieve outcomes.
- Is responsible for uplifting change management capability within Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate.
- Provides change management support and expertise for Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate initiatives.
- Contributes to the growth of the change management framework and its adoption by change leaders throughout the organisation.
Mōhou ake | About you
We are looking for an experienced change manager and people leader who can form strong relationships across Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate.
You will have the ability to influence and embed change at an enterprise level including strong stakeholder engagement skills with internal and external senior leaders.
To be successful in this role you will have knowledge of change management methodology, tools and techniques, as well as having sound knowledge of government and public sector processes.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.
You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
You will also demonstrate:
- Proven ability to coach and constructively challenge others to grow
- Ability to manage and lead complex and large organisational change initiatives
- A track record of building and maintaining trusted relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and Māori as appropriate
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to adjust style to the needs of the audience
To operate in this role you must have a qualification in Change Management (e.g. PROSCI, APMG International Change Management).

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.
To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.For additional information on the changes we are embarking on, please visit here.
