Mō te tūranga | About the role

  • Parttime, 20 hours per week. Fixed term for 2 years.
  • Plan and undertake direct control of RPMP pests as required i.e., small spraying or physical control works.
  • Manage contractors to achieve outcomes set out in the operational plan.
  • Respond to customer enquiries around pest plants.
  • Carry out site inspections to determine compliance requirements for the Hamilton City pest plant programme as per the Enforcement Manual.
  • Reporting, monitoring, and recording of data for the pest plant programme.
  • Managing small operational programmes with multiple stakeholders.

  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer focus.
  • Previous experience in pest plant management.
  • Have a high level of computer literacy skills.
  • Selfmotivated, able to work independently.

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

  • Tertiary qualification of relevant experience in pest management.
  • 13 years of experience in pest management.

  • We're a friendly, approachable and a welcoming team. There are six biosecurity officers in the team spread across the region, so there will be a lot of support to help you find your feet in this role.
  • Reporting to the Pest Plants Lead, you will work most closely with 3 other biosecurity officers in the pest plants team.
