This Coordinator role is part of the Resident Doctor's Support Team.

The Te Whatu Ora [Health NZ] Waitaha Canterbury is a center of excellence for Resident Doctor training, education and clinical experience.

The Resident Doctors - Support Team is responsible for the operational management of our Resident Doctor workforce.

From high volume annual recruitment, to rostering and coordinating their ongoing employment and training activity - this team is integral in ensuring our Resident Doctors are supported and enjoy their work and learning experience.


As part of the Resident Doctors Support Team (RDST), the Resident Doctors - Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Residential Doctor - s workforce daily.

This could include rostering, leave management, advice about recruitment, advice about training and career paths, run allocations and contractual issues.

You will be involved in supporting the Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and providing a service concerning RMO staffing.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administration, HR and/or coordination experience within the healthcare environment. This is a fixed-term, full-time role (40 hours per week) until July 2024.

This role would entail:

  • Coordinating and rostering for the Department
  • Contingency planning, regarding roster absences
  • Supporting services and primary care settings
  • Customer service for Registers Doctors and visitors
  • Supporting RMOs with their Medical Education & Training
  • Adhering to compliance requirements for Unions
  • Assisting in workforce planning
  • Workforce prioritisation
  • Admin requirements for Medical Council and Immigration NZ
  • Orientation for new starters
  • Managing RMOs leave and reliever requirements and allocation
  • Attend and facilitate relevant meetings
  • Coordinate and allocate RMO run allocations

We are looking for someone who has strong communication and interpersonal skills, and who enjoys building relationships with others. This role would suit someone who can plan multiple steps while working in a fast-paced and pressurised environment.
