Mō te tūranga | About the role

  • Provision of daytoday library services including cataloguing, circulation, reference queries and interloans.
  • Purchasing and management of invoices for library books and subscriptions.
  • Ensuring copyright requirements under the Copyright Act are observed and adhered to in all library procedures.
  • Marketing library services including the development and promotion of the Current Awareness Service.
  • Ensuring that the Council registered documents series has library input at the appropriate stages and that Legal Deposit requirements are adhered to.

  • Able to work independently and collaborate with other team members.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of people at Waikato Regional Council.
  • Focus on quality output, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated excellence with searching techniques.
  • Some knowledge of the Waikato Region and local government.

_Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience _
- _Minimum of 3 years' work in a Library as a qualified professional _
- _Information or Library studies degree/postgraduate qualification. _
- _Cataloguing and classification (DDC) experience. _
- _Knowledge of and experience of, and proficient in using databases and Library Management Systems. _

_Mō te tīma | About the team _
- _The Librarian position sits in the Business Support Team of the Science, Policy & Information Directorate. The team consists of 8 team members. _
- _Daily assistance with shelving, weeding and general library circulation is given by some of the team members when required. _
