**About the role**

As our Principal Architect, Enterprise Data, you will enable the continuous acceleration of the team by working across the company to identify and establish the source of truth and system of record for every field of data representing every piece of information that is important to Gallagher.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Gallagher's logical Enterprise Data Architecture that will enable seamless interoperability of systems from transaction systems, document management systems and information delivery systems.

You will be Gallagher's first "digital librarian, " helping every team member organise new information, and rapidly find the information they need. You will bring a passion for organisation and systems thinking, while creating and overseeing the architecture of data and reporting to ensure Gallagher can "measure what matters most ".

**How You'll Fulfil Your Mission**
- Define, document, evolve, and maintain the information architecture for internal systems, including metadata schemes
- Implement information architecture by managing system configurations; coordinating with developers; documenting structure and configuration change management processes
- Study how users consume content, including search, data categorisation and labelling
- Align stakeholders throughout the company, and drive adoption
- Collaborate with content owners to ensure relevant, accurate, up to date information
- Collaborative: Facilitate inclusive conversations and workshops across diverse teams and lines of business in a virtual environment to bring people and perspectives together. Excellent written, presentational, and communication skills; Strong visualisation skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Validate information delivery by developing and completing usability tests
- Define, evolve, and maintain the information architecture for internal systems, including metadata schemes
- Implement information architecture by managing system configurations; coordinating with developers; documenting structure and configuration change management processes
- Partner closely with individuals and teams from across our matrixed organisation to ensure our ecosystem has accessible and logical information (content and data) organization using industry best practices - with a goal of unifying and clarifying to establish consistency
- Develop enterprise-scale information architectures that include taxonomies, content models and resulting strategies, ontologies, metadata schema, tag structures and associated techniques
- Design, implement and lead Data Architecture, Data Quality, Data Governance across Gallagher
- Develop and evangelise data quality standards and practices
- Establish data governance processes, procedures, policies, and guidelines to maintain the integrity and security of the data
- Create and maintain critical data standards and metadata that allows data to be understood and leveraged as a shared asset
- Provide architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for a scalable master data management strategy

**Essential Skills**
- 10+ years of experience as a Data Architect
- 8 years' combined experience across user experience strategy, strategy storytelling, data visualisation, and/or information architecture
- M.S. or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics, or other relevant discipline
- Proven experience performing conceptual, logical and physical data modelling with data modelling tools and database design in complex, large-scale data environments
- Experience in creation of data dictionaries, defining metadata management approaches and governance processes
- Experience making data-driven, customer-centric decisions to define scalable information architecture solutions that lead to increased discoverability, comprehension, and customer engagement
- Experience in developing and implementing IT architecture plans, Enterprise Information Architecture standard and guidelines, software development methodologies and strategic plans
- Experience developing scalable design of entities using advanced data structures (e.g., tall tables)
- Experience in developing data models that support inter alia, time dependency, historical tracings, taxonomies (simple and complex)
- Experience in business process improvement and knowledge of business intelligence
