This is a full-time, permanent position of 40 hours per week.
The remuneration range for this role is $80,668 to $109,140 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.

  • Excluding overtime and on call rates.
The opportunity
We are looking for a versatile and adaptable team player who is enthusiastic in finding creative solutions to problems.

As an Automation Engineer you will design, implement, maintain, monitor and document the automation and data acquisition systems of three waters infrastructure assets.

You will also be part of an on call roster. This position comes with use of a company vehicle.

You will get to:

  • Monitor and maintain telemetry and microwave data networks
  • Work collaboratively with consultants and contractors to achieve great outcomes
  • Project manage the upgrade paths of all automation equipment
  • Monitor all control and telemetry systems to verify desired functionality is achieved.
About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • A Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent experience, or current registration as an Electrician
- three or more years' experience with industrial control, telemetry and instrumentation equipment

  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in a complex process plant, production or engineering organisation
  • Water and wastewater treatment experience desirable
  • A member of Engineering NZ (MEngNZ) and a current NZ full driver's licence.

About us
Wellington Water is the Wellington region's professional water services provider.

We are 100 percent council owned and funded by Wellington City, Hutt City, Porirua City, and Upper Hutt City councils, Greater Wellington Regional Council and South Wairarapa District Council.

Our councils own the water infrastructure in the region, and they task us to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to their communities.

Our job is to provide safe and healthy drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and ensure the stormwater network is well managed.

We do this on behalf of our council owners.
