Who we are
- At AgResearch, our purpose is to use science to enhance the value, productivity, and profitability of New Zealand's pastoral, agrifood, and agritechnology sector value chains to contribute to economic growth and beneficial environmental and social outcomes for New Zealand. _ The role and opportunity_
- AgResearch is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated students to join us for a Summer Internship program. These are aimed at students who are currently undertaking tertiary study and will run from 20 November 2023 until 9 February 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for you to experience what your professional career at a Crown Research Institute could be like to gain exposure to the Science community, developing skills, and creating connections that will set you up for a bright career.
- This role is based in Palmerston North.
The Project
- This project will aim to determine ways to reduce the thermal resistance of bacterial spores using cold plasma exposure. The unique properties of cold plasma make it highly reactive and capable of producing various reactive species, including ions, electrons, free radicals, and excited molecules.
- Key tasks will include, completion of microbiology experiments, data collection and result compilation, writing short reports and providing research assistance and ideas.
Your Ideal BackgroundCurrently studying in a relevant tertiary course
- Be able to commit to working from Nov '2
- Feb '24 (excluding our Christmas closedown period)
- A keen attitude and motivation to work in an innovative environment
- Demonstrates safe workplace behaviour by taking all practicable steps to ensure own and other's safety in the workplace
