We are currently looking for a Financial Crime Analytics Specialist to join our fantastic Financial Crime Analytics team.


ASB's Financial Crime Analytics team has a wide remit across Financial Crime, with a particular focus on Anti Money Laundering (AML).

The team works to identify, assess, report and manage activity relating to money laundering and terrorism financing, ensuring the financial safety our customers.


Ideally you will have previous experience in the field, but this is a great opportunity for somebody new to the Financial Crime area.

We really want you to bring your Analytics skills and IT background and be open to learning more about Financial Crime.


The role:

This role will report to the Manager Financial Crime Analytics.

The primary focus will be to ensure that ASB's Financial Crime Transaction Monitoring rules are operating in an optimal manner.

You will work alongside colleagues in the Financial Crime Analytics team to undertake all analytics and reporting required for the development and optimisation of AML/CFT Transaction Monitoring scorecards and rule set.

You will also have the opportunity to become involved in work relating to management of ASB's Financial Crime models. This is a growing area of specialisation, and one that offers incredibly varied and challenging work.


We are looking for someone with a technology background, hands-on data analytics experience (solving complex problems, extraction and manipulation of large data sets, presenting results and recommending actions) and previous involvement with model development and management.


You will have experience in a range of current analytics tools such as SQL, SAS and R, and an interest in learning more about Financial Crime, AML and Financial Services.

A key part of our success is engaging with a range of stakeholders and being able to clearly explain technical concepts, so it is important that you are a confident communicator.


Key to your success will be:

  • Demonstrated experience in data analytics.
  • Previous SQL and SAS experience and use of other tools to extract and utilise complex data sets from a range of data sources.
  • Strong mathematical/statistical skills.
  • A background within Financial Crime, AML and/or Fraud is preferable but not essential.
  • Tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or similar preferred.
