We have a great opportunity for a skilled Kaiwhakarite in our Tai-ranga-whenua team.

The team provides an overarching pathway for Māori engagement with a focus on enabling council's responsiveness to Māori in delivering its responsibilities.


Fluency in te reo Māori, applied experience in kawa, tikanga ā-iwi and mātauranga Māori is desirable as is experience with local government.


Mō te tūranga | About the role


In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of strategy and policy to ensure council's obligations to Māori are met, to preserve and strengthen partnerships with Māori and communities across the region.


Mō te tangata | About you


You will have the ability to coordinate and implement systems and processes that assist iwi Māori-focused policy development, learning and development capability building programmes and work with council and iwi to support their capability to fulfil their partnership aspirations.


Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

  • Strength in te reo me ona tikanga
  • Existing Māori networks in the Waikato region
  • Knowledge of the Waikato region
  • Project management skills or experience
  • Related postgraduate qualification
