We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process.
We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.
The Principal Service Development Manager, Rural Health is a member of the rural health team.In this role you will be contributing to the development of the strategic roadmap for the rural health across New Zealand.
You will support the regions and localities with improving rural health services and radically improving Māori Health and eliminate inequities.
The Principal Service Development Manager has strong relationship management and influencing skills and negotiates & manages contracts through strong provider and sector relationships.

- Highly experienced in commissioning in varied environments
- Demonstrated experience at a senior level leading the development and delivery of service and investment strategies and initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in health service funding with procurement and provider management oversight at a senior level.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of high quality and timely investment planning strategies and initiatives.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples groups.
This role is in the Te Waipounamu Region made up of Nelson Marlborough, Canterbury, South Canterbury, West Coast and Southern. Ideally, you will be based in one of these locations, but this can be discussed at interview stage.
