The Christchurch City Council is expanding its Spatial Information Team and is currently seeking a Principal Software Engineer with a specialisation in Spatial/GIS.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and System Architecture:

  • Define and drive the strategic trajectory of our geospatial technologies and solutions.

Advanced Solution Development:

  • Ensure seamless integration of geospatial solutions with enterprise systems

Technical Advisory and Decision Making:

  • Serve as the principal geospatial advisor to senior management.
  • Lead the assessment and implementation of emerging geospatial technologies and methodologies.

Mentorship and Team Development:

  • Design and execute a robust mentorship program to elevate the skills of our geospatial staff.
  • Identify and capitalise on training opportunities to augment team capabilities.

Research and Innovation:

Quality Assurance and Best Practices:

  • Champion best practices in geospatial data security, privacy, and ethical conduct.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A proven track record of excellence and leadership in the spatial/GIS domain.
  • Mastery of GIS software, spatial data analysis, and system integration.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and a passion for driving innovation in the geospatial field.
