DETA has offices in Ōtautahi/Christchurch, Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington, Tauranga Moana/Tauranga and on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.

This role could be based in Wellington or Christchurch.
You will be working with much autonomy but provided with the support and input that you need to succeed. You will be partnering with a range of client stakeholders in the dairy, food, manufacturing, and industrial processing sectors. Your engineering expertise will be focused on

  • Contributing to or leading individual projects, fulfilling project delivery activities for clients, from inception through to commissioning
  • Analysing current system's utility use
  • Supporting the identification and definition of opportunities to improve utility using systems and equipment.
  • Defining, scoping, and developing concept design of improvement opportunities
  • Reviewing and validating data to confirm successful implementation and results.
  • Developing and monitoring project progress using formal processes
  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Using appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Managing the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.


This role will provide hands on process engineering and consulting experience and a rewarding opportunity to help clients decarbonise, reduce energy consumption and champion environmental sustainability.

  • 5+ years' experience gained in a manufacturing or industrial processing environment (preferably in a consulting capacity)
  • Demonstrated process engineering/project management experience
  • A solutions mindset
  • Strong communication & influencing skills
  • Solid analytical and MS Excel skills
  • Enthusiasm and a passion for your work
  • A clean, valid driver's license and flexibility for overnight travel
