RNZ is New Zealand's only non-commercial public multimedia organisation and exists solely to serve the public interest by providing unique, impartial services and content to all New Zealanders.


The purpose of the Lead Scheduler is to identify, schedule and deliver all pre-built features and the schedule for RNZ National in line with the Radio strategy, for both talk & music.


This will include leading the talk and music programming teams for playlist, pre-built music feature creation and delivery & development of our Overnight, Saturday Night & Sunday night shows.


As the leading Sound Imager for RNZ National, you will help to maintain the overall feel and brand in line with RNZ's stylistic principles, via music selection, feature selection and voice training.


This includes overseeing format for Overnights, Sat Night & Sun Night shows and their development, along with the Music programmer, and in line with the Radio strategy.

You'll also coordinate with other Content leaders to manage the roll out of RNZ content.

And you'll shape the sound of RNZ National through trailers/promos, stagers, and general sound imaging for all shows.

  • Provide extra cover option for leave or sickness if required, and especially for emergency scenarios.
  • Manage the team of schedulers and newsreaders
  • Manage and deliver holiday programming
  • Be an integral part of the radio leadership team

Ōu Pūkenga - About You:

  • Significant background in radio broadcast onair and programming, with proven track record onair and strong knowledge of the NZ radio market
  • Strong production values with previous experience creating promos and imaging for live radio.
  • Proven industry handson experience with scheduling and playout systems, along with multimedia platforms.
  • Previous experience in managing people.
  • Good active knowledge of national and international news and current affairs
