**About the Role | Mō te Tūranga

Reporting to the Head of Brand, your primary focus as Chapter Lead will be to build skills and capabilities in your team that will lead to best-in-class product marketing and shape the way we develop our new brand expression to build growth and differentiation in the NZ market.

You will lead out on the strategy development for Product marketing, with a particular focus on our own brand product range (current and future), our Fresh offering (current and future innovations), but also incorporating other product attributes relevant to customers such as health & sustainability claims.

This focus on the quality and care for our products will be the centrepiece of our value proposition, that will also support the work of the Price Chapter.


Key Priorities for the role include:

  • Lead, develop and enable a high-performing team of collaborative, highly engaged functional product marketing experts
  • Support teams across squads and tribes, but particularly squads that focus on the rollout of product marketing programmes
  • Coach Product Owners in relevant squads on best practices of product marketing communications
  • Drive effective and efficient strategy and communication planning across all our product marketing activities.
  • Drive the roadmap for improved product trust perceptions, both tactically (through NPD support) and longterm, supporting and motivating the team to deliver worldclass brand and marketing communications
  • Set clear input and output targets in relation to product marketing related marketing programmes
  • Lead out on the development of our (strongly own brand supported) new brand platform
  • Champion datadriven and insightled decisionmaking across the wider marketing team to inform strategies, identify opportunities, optimise performance and proactively mitigate challenges.
  • Champion the customer in our decisionmaking processes.
  • Influence conversations and thinking in the Brand & Marketing Leadership team towards better strategic positioning, clearer roadmaps and higher motivated teams.
  • Maintain and grow strategic relationships within the business and outside
  • Collaborate deeply with appropriate Trans-Tasman teams to ensure brand alignment and efficiencies (where appropriate).
  • Support the use of our 1st party data to intelligently drive our marketing approaches.
  • Champion for Woolworths Group policies in support of productrelated policies (e.g. environmental claims, health claims).

This key role requires a strong commercial strategic leader & thinker, with solid knowledge of connection planning and a deep expertise in reaching audiences in a fragmented and complex media landscape.


Your specific experience will likely reflect:

  • Deep understanding of customers, their behaviours and habits
  • Strong analytical skills, with particular focus on customer and business metrics, an ability to understand trends, question hypotheses and demonstrable ability to consider data in a decision making process.
  • Extensive experience leading a successful team to deliver a connected marketing communication proposition.
  • Exceptional collaboration, influencing and communication skills across the full business and group to drive transformational and customer centric change.
  • Proven experience in bringing our customer offer to life across all channels within a changing media landscape.
  • Excellent financial management experience: forecasting budgeting and reporting.
  • The ability to build and grow trusted partnerships.
  • Curiosity, a growth mindset and deep passion for the development of teams and individuals including own growth and learning.
  • Mindset of 'always learning', constantly challenging yourself and others and always improving.
  • Deep passion for food.
