Product Manager - Wellington

About the team

The role of the Strategy and Insights group is to lead the development and implementation of the Ministry's strategy by creating insights for effective decision making, focusing resources on the right investments, and understanding and evaluating performance.

We focus on working with people to understand their information needs and the complex problems they are trying to solve.

We use data, analytics, and evidence to deliver actionable insights through multiple channels that support decision-makers across the Ministry to know what the next best step is now and into the future.

We advise on what mix of interventions is likely to work best for whom and where the priorities lie, so that investments across the system are aligned, targeted, and designed in a way that will make the biggest difference.

We partner with groups inside and outside the Ministry to deliver joint outcomes.

About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the achievement of the Ministry's strategic employment objectives.

As our Product Manager, you'll be accountable for the continuous development, review, and refinement of our employment and labour market product roadmaps, and you'll communicate the vision to our stakeholders.

You'll also establish appropriate and relevant quantitative and qualitative metrics and measures for assessing delivery of value.

You'll be working alongside our Labour Market Analysts, Data Scientists and Research and evaluation experts to provide insights and evidence to decision makers.

About you
If you have extensive experience in product or portfolio management in a large and complex environment, strategic planning and roadmap experience, exceptional relationship management and negotiation skills, and the ability to turn user feedback into prioritised roadmaps, we want you

Our ideal Product Manager will have:

  • Good knowledge of the Strategy and Insights group and MSD Service Delivery teams
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in building effective relationships and working collaboratively at all levels across a large multidisciplinary organisation
  • Good knowledge of the scaled agile techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling the work programme, including risk management
  • Experience in leading work programmes across business and/or technology change
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams made up of internal and external capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to find innovative ways of solving or preempting problems
  • Extensive experience in product roadmap creation and maintenance is a must
