The Business Banking (BB) Line 1 compliance team provide advice, guidance, and support across ASB's BB division including to the Commercial, Rural, and Small Business distribution units and to our Product teams.


Mō te Tūranga | About the role


As a Compliance Manager, you will play a critical role in the BB Division to drive compliance with ASB's risk management frameworks, policies and procedures, support the impact assessment of new/proposed/amended laws, regulations, industry codes, recommend submissions (where applicable) and assist in the development of action plans to ensure compliance.


You will be responsible for providing advice, guidance and support on compliance related queries, incidents, and issues on products, process initiatives and reviews.

You will also provide training and report on adherence to appropriate compliance policies and procedures.


You will play a critcal role in building a culture committed to enhancing ASB's reputation, driving continuous improvement and embracing change.

  • To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for the financial services industry, ideally having had prior experience either within a Business / 'porate financial services environment, or in compliance.
  • You are a team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues, is curious and energetic.
  • You have great stakeholder management and communication skills, while being able to navigate ambiguity and the unknown to be able to provide outstanding compliance advice.
  • You are building your knowledge and understanding of the financial services regulatory environment and legislation, having a keen interest in conflicts management and relevant legislation including the FMCA (and FSLAA), Retail Payments Act, Conduct of Financial Institutions, Deposit Takers Act and RBNZ requirements and are looking to take those foundations to the next level.
  • Your strong commercial acumen and understanding of how complex commercial entities operate will enable you to provide risk based advice and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders.
