About the role

The Assessment Delivery Expert is a key advisory role in our Operations and Logistics team, reporting to the Assessment Delivery Manager.

The Assessment Delivery Expert is responsible for supporting the effective operation of all examination centres and ensuring a skilled workforce is in place to deliver external assessments, both digital and paper-based.

You will play a key role in the development and delivery of training for school / kura-based staff for external assessment delivery, and NZQA assessment centre workers for end of year external assessment / examinations.

This requires detailed planning, co-ordination and communications within NZQA, with the workforce and with schools / kura where appropriate.
The Assessment Delivery expert will also have responsibility for reviewing processes and activities with internal staff as required.
Operations and Logistics

The Operations and Logistics team is primarily responsible for the operational delivery of the external National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) and New Zealand Scholarship external assessments as an end to end process.

The team also provides operational support to all Assessment Division business units.
Skills and experience
Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of the NCEA and NZ Scholarship external assessment processes for the successful operation of national examinations.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Indepth analytical skills and experience and the ability to provide creative solutions.
  • Relationship management skills with the ability to quickly establish rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds within the school / kura environment.
  • Ability to provide solutions to exam centre issues in a quiet and highly efficient manner during the operation of national external assessment.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand secondary school environment.
  • Project management experience or equivalent business experience.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.
Desirable

  • Knowledge of te ao Māori would be an advantage and a demonstrated commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

Qualifications:

  • A qualification at Level 7 of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework or equivalent experience.
