The Electricity Authority is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity sector. We set rules for the electricity sector when they deal with each other, and when they deal with consumers. A legislative change is proposed to bring even greater emphasis to the protection of consumers.
The electricity sector is core to the Government's climate change response.

One of the key things we need to do as a country is move to more renewable energy, which means both greater use of electricity in transport and industry and ensuring as much electricity as possible comes from renewable sources.
