**Mō te tūranga | About the role**

This is a great opportunity to work within the regulatory and planning functions of Council’s Resource Use Directorate. While working as an RMA Duty Planner, your work will focus on to providing legislative and planning advice to our customers on a range of interesting and diverse environmental planning matters. Core responsibilities include:

- Provision of Resource Management Act (RMA), Waikato Regional Plan, and Waikato Regional Coastal Plan information and advice to our customers. Working with council staff to ensure timely response to information requests.
- Respond to ‘complicated’ enquiries and requests for RMA and planning advice.
- Facilitate discussions/meetings with other staff or teams to ensure customers are provided with accurate and appropriate advice.
- Assist with and respond to Permitted Activity whitebait stands queries and transfers.
- Oversight of Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA) requests coming into the directorate, working with the Democracy Services team to action.

**Mō te tīma | About the team**
- **You will have the support of a professional team of varying skillsets and expertise across the Regional Consents Section, while helping support their work with their consenting and monitoring functions.**:

- **Reporting to the Technical Consents Support team lead, you will also work closely alongside RMA Advisors, the Contract Management Lead, and another RMA Duty Planner.**

**Mō te tangata | About you**
- **A high level of computer skills**:

- **Excellent written and verbal communication skills**:

- **Be results and solution-focused**:

- **Good organisational skills including time management, prioritising and multi-tasking**

**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- **A tertiary qualification in resource management or equivalent industry knowledge in resource management or related field e.g. environmental planning, science.**:

- **~2 years experience in a planning or related field.**:

- **High level of oral and written communication skills; the ability to communicate sometimes complex technical information in a way that is easily understood.**:

- **Ability to understand, analyse and evaluate the Resource Management Act and planning information, and provide sound advice to council’s customers.**
