A little about the role...

The role of Communications Specialist is an exciting opportunity to develop and implement the internal and external communications and media relations strategy to protect, maintain and enhance SkyCity's corporate reputation and brand. You will support the gaming, hotels, soon to be completed New Zealand International Convention Centre and award winning restaurant and bars within the portfolio, demonstrating a keen eye for what makes a great story.

  • Respond to high profile issues
  • Maintain key relationships with media, agencies
  • Work promptly on detecting and resolving issues that may impact SkyCity
  • Assist with developing a communications strategy

To be successful in this position you'll have previous experience of 8+ years in a communications role for a high profile, issues risk organisation, along with experience working with external media and wide-reaching networks across New Zealand.

You'll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and an excellent ability to problem solve with a pro-active approach to seeking solutions. This is a dynamic, exciting industry where no two days are the same, so a strong level-head is essential. We're looking for a positive, self starter who is experienced and confident in dealing with media and interacting with people at all levels within a business.
