Electronics Technician

MC Communications is a well-established telecommunications company based in New Plymouth with a proven background in the local communications industry for over 30 years, who provide a great work/life balance. We are a leading provider of telecommunication services & specialise in "turn-key" solutions for local businesses in Taranaki, including clientele in the onshore and offshore Petrochemical sector.

Our working environment is exciting and varied, from repairing or configuring equipment in the workshop, to installing and commissioning systems on site or flying offshore to a local Petrochemical site.

An opportunity now exists for another experienced Electronics Technician to join our small dynamic team of professionals who provide an exceptional quality of service and solutions. The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:

  1. Programming, installing, repairing and maintaining analogue & digital radio telephone systems
  2. Diagnosing RF antenna systems, tuning duplexers and testing
  3. Configuring, installing, and maintaining VoIP onsite and offsite Cloud PBX systems
  4. Programming, testing and installation of wireless data networks
  5. Installing, commissioning and troubleshooting telemetry systems
  6. Liaising with customers, communicating effectively and solving issues
  7. Updating customer records & completing associated documentation
  8. Complying with all OSH operational requirements
  9. Working at height on Cherry Picker or EWP

The individual applying must have the following personal attributes:

  1. Have had at least 2 years' previous technical experience in either Electronics, Telecommunications, Radio Telephones or associated RF systems
  2. Has installed or has had experience with data cabling or fibre optic networks
  3. Has used RF test equipment to a competent ability
  4. Are punctual, well presented and organized
  5. Have very good verbal and legible written communications skills with clients, suppliers and fellow workers
  6. Are fit and healthy and comfortable working at height
  7. Has a thorough work ethic with emphasis on attention to detail
  8. Ability to work unsupervised and problem solve in the field
  9. Have a current, full, clean NZ driver's license & can drive a manual vehicle
  10. Commitment to further professional technological skill development
  11. Commitment to our companies ethics, strong company growth and future goals
  12. Prepared to travel offshore for limited periods
  13. Have good time management skills
  14. Negative Alcohol and Drug Test
  15. Has NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit

This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop a successful technical career with a market leader in the Telecommunications field. Ongoing specialist training will be provided with a competitive salary. The role is a full-time permanent position working Monday through to Friday from 08:30am to 5:00pm, with occasional weekend work to fulfill work commitments.
