Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:

The Collaborative Procurement team in the NZ Government Procurement branch manages a broad portfolio of All-of-Government framework agreements which deliver common goods and services to government agencies.


Our vision is to deliver a fair, transparent, inclusive, and efficient procurement system that delivers high public value to all New Zealanders.

- design category strategies to operationalise policy, facilitate Broader Outcomes, and deliver value-for-money from AoG contracts,
- embed best-in-class supplier relationship management programmes to enhance performance and service delivery, and
- develop customer-centric marketing and engagement programmes to improve the way our AoG teams communicate, support, and consult with government agencies.


If you are a team player who can quickly build productive relationships with customers, suppliers and senior stakeholders, and you have relevant experience in designing and leading procurement projects and commercial contracts, we would like to hear from you.

  • A strong trackrecord of procurement/commercial experience within government, a regulatory environment or the private sector.
  • Superior ability to analyse complex procurement situations and to design robust strategies and solutions.
  • Considerable experience at delivering procurement projects using project management concepts.
  • Proven ability to develop effective commercial strategies, business cases and manage contracts that deliver value throughout their lifecycle.
  • Excellent relationship management skills able to establish effective working relationships with suppliers, customers, senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • High degree of political nous and a working knowledge of the machinery of government.
  • Experienced at developing, mentoring, and coaching staff.
  • Significant experience at influencing and negotiating with suppliers to drive innovation and add value.
  • Must have legal right to live and work in NZ.
