We are looking for solo lodge hosts to work alongside our host couples to continue to deliver our award-winning visitor experience.
The solo host is critical in providing our manuhiri (guests) a welcoming face by engaging and hosting them in our lodges from their arrival, through dinner service until last drinks.
In the morning you will take pride in helping prepare our lodges to meet the high standards our manuhiri have come to expect.
Post an extended lunch break you will help with food preparation, lodge daily duties and logistics prior to guests' arrival.
The role covers all aspects of lodge manaakitanga (hospitality) including hosting, catering, housekeeping, maintenance, and stock management.It is suited to individuals who enjoy the company of others, are willing to get stuck in, thrive under pressure, enjoy problem solving and are at home in isolation.
You will be working on a rotating roster starting with a flight into Martins Bay lodge where you will spend most of your time, before jet boating up to Pyke Lodge to provide support to the host couple, before hiking 19.5km out to finish your shift along the magnificent Hollyford Track.
The Hollyford Wilderness Experience is certainly not your usual walk in the park - it takes our manuhiri down the Hollyford Valley following the path of Māori and early Europeans alike, by foot, jet boat and helicopter.
With 8 newly renovated ensuite rooms in each lodge we accommodate up to 16 guests per night, providing an intimate opportunity to experience the best Aotearoa has to offer with the comforts of home.
Whether you're a kiwi or coming in from overseas on a working holiday visa, we have an opportunity for you to stay and work amongst the stunning scenery of New Zealand's Fiordland National Park for our summer season 2023/2024.
About you:
- People centric with a passion to impress our manuhiri with your exceptional hosting, customer service skills and love of the great outdoors.
- You will be lodge proud and ensure that they are maintained to the highest cleaning standards.
- Experience in food preparation as well as a passion for creating and sharing food.
- Strong selfmanagement and time management skills
- Selfmotivated, energetic, and enthusiastic
- Demonstrate a "cando", positive attitude.
- You will have proven experience working closely with others to meet tight deadlines.
Our successful applicants will have an understanding of, or an eagerness to learn and engage with our Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori.
