Reporting to our CTIO, this is a unique opportunity to drive AI adoption and data innovation at scale. We're a business that loves to move fast, experiment boldly, and do things a little differently (it's in our DNA) and have spent the past few years getting our data house in order with modern platforms and clean foundations. We're now ready for the next chapter and are looking for someone to take the reins of our data and AI strategy - from cloud platforms to generative AI enablement, from governance to game-changing insights.

Your role, your journey | Te Huarahi Whakatipu

  • Lead the enterprise-wide Data & AI strategy, accelerating business value through smarter insights, automation, and ethical AI enablement.
  • Evolve and mature our hub-and-spoke model, balancing centralised excellence with embedded analytics capability across the business.
  • Own our AI strategy and execution - from machine learning and Copilot integration to AI governance and responsible use.
  • Partner closely with senior leaders across the business to ensure data drives every decision.
  • Build and empower high-performing teams across data engineering, analytics, and AI.
  • Shape and influence strategic partnerships with vendors and industry peers to keep 2degrees ahead of the curve.

  • Proven senior leadership experience in data and analytics within a large, complex organisation, in a hub & spoke model.
  • A track record of delivering enterprise-wide data strategies and scaling Centres of Expertise.
  • Strong technical acumen in cloud data platforms, and a genuine curiosity for how AI can transform the way we work.
  • Strategic thinking paired with practical execution - you get things done.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills. The ability to connect the dots between strategy, technology, and business outcomes is critical.
  • A leadership style that's empowering, action-oriented, and people-focused - you'll build capability, confidence, and momentum.
