About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic
NZ Leader
to oversee and drive innovation and operational excellence across our transportation portfolio — spanning road, rail, ports, and airport operations. This is a pivotal leadership position responsible for ensuring seamless service delivery, operational efficiency, and safety across the national NZ network.
The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and a proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams within complex transport environments.
This is a full-time role, based in Wellington.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations across New Zealand's multimodal transport network.
- Drive operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives across road, rail, ports, and airports.
- Oversee workforce planning, safety performance, compliance, and service delivery.
- Collaborate with regional, national, and international stakeholders, including government agencies, transport authorities, and commercial partners.
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with organisational goals and regulatory frameworks.
- Champion a strong safety and sustainability culture across all modes of transport.
- Manage budgets, resources, and reporting requirements to ensure efficiency and accountability.
- Support innovation in transport operations through digital tools, smart infrastructure, and data-driven decision making.
About You:
You are an accomplished innovation and operational leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. You have a deep understanding of New Zealand's transport ecosystem and the ability to deliver results through collaboration, innovation, and decisive leadership.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years' experience in transportation, logistics, or infrastructure operations.
- Demonstrated leadership of geographically dispersed teams.
- Proven experience managing multi-modal transport systems (road, rail, ports, and airports).
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, transport, business, or a related field.
- Extensive network of business and government clients
Desirable:
- Experience working with NZTA, KiwiRail, Local Governments, port authorities, or airport owners and operators.
- Exposure to smart transport systems or sustainability initiatives in infrastructure.
- Track record of business success and innovation driven decision making
