Join the team of level 1 tutors who deliver our foundation skills programme, Careers Unlimited. Work alongside youth to successfully complete their course and move on to the next step in their pathway.
EmployNZ is a Category 1, Private Training Establishment registered and accredited by NZQA and funded by the Tertiary Education Commission to provide face to face, foundation education programmes for predominantly school leavers in the Bay of Plenty.
We are gearing up for 2026 and are looking for an inspiring person who wants to get involved as a Foundation Skills Tutors and deliver our NZQA approved foundation skills programme which can lead to youth gaining their NCEA and a NZ Certificate. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our young people and to join the EmployNZ team.
In this job you will:
- help young people to take confident steps towards becoming more independent as they move into the next step of their pathway
- Relate to youth and want to make things happen for them
- Provide learning in an interesting, fun and relevant way that meets the needs of the students who have just left school or returning to study
- Share their passion for navigating pathways into the future for our students
- Support the wider tutor team by providing support and relief
- Drive and deliver achievement for our students
- Build positive relationships with students and their whānau
- Connect with and support our youth alongside other youth organisations within the community
- Use their expertise, skills and knowledge to pass on valuable life skills
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A genuine passion for helping youth achieve their educational goals
- To use MSOffice 365 apps and our cloud based apps to manage planning, attendance, results, and outcomes
- Develop and collate Literacy and Numeracy activity portfolios with students
- Plan and deliver learning activities and assess student achievement against the New Zealand Qualification Framework including life skills and employment skills assessment standards leading to NCEA Levels 1 and 2.
Adult teaching experience and holding the National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (NCALNE) (Level 5) would be an advantage, however training leading to gaining these qualifcations will be provided.
This position is for 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday. Hours: 8am - 4.30pm daily. A start date will be negotiated with the successful applicant to align with students starting in Term 1, 2026.
