The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and highly organised Facilitator& Keyworker to join our dedicated team. This unique role blends artistic expertise with meaningful, person-centred support. While the Facilitator role will have a specialty in Art the role will also include a broad range of other sessions across the week that we endeavour to match with your interests. You will be required to provide some personal cares support to our Tāngata Whaikaha.

As the successful candidate, you will work closely with our tāngata whaikaha to develop their artistic talents across a variety of mediums. Examples that our artists have explored include, but are not limited to, Decoupage, Woodburning, Mosaic, Painting, Woodwork, Aluminium, Beadwork, Craft ... and more. You will also be responsible for curating and organising St Chads' annual Art Exhibition, celebrating the talent and progress of our clients.

In your role as Keyworker, you will help tāngata whaikaha set personal goals and develop session plans—not limited to art—that support their aspirations around independence, participation, and choice. Your ability to build positive, respectful relationships with tāngata whaikaha, families, and support networks is essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and skill-building art sessions tailored to tāngata whaikaha/ client abilities and interests
  • Plan, curate, and manage the annual art exhibition showcasing tāngata whaikaha work
  • Support tāngata whaikaha in setting and working towards meaningful goals
  • Develop and adjust session plans to align with individual goals and support needs
  • Maintain strong communication with families, carers, and other professionals
  • Act as a keyworker for a number of individuals, ensuring holistic, person-centred support
  • Being able to operate disability equipment (hoists, wheelchairs, etc.) and support people with their personal care needs. (Training will be given)
  • Promote independence, self-expression, and community inclusion through all activities

About You

You will bring a unique combination of artistic capacity, compassion, and professionalism. You'll be comfortable working in a flexible, team-focused environment and committed to empowering adults with intellectual disabilities.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Background in visual arts with hands-on experience in a range of mediums
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities. NZQA Level 4 or equivalent qualification in Health & Wellbeing
  • Strong organisational skills, particularly in event planning
  • Empathy and ability to build strong, respectful relationships with tāngata whaikaha and families
  • Understanding of person-centred planning and goal-setting
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A creative, flexible, and strengths-based approach to service delivery
