DataLAB is looking for a Full-time (Mon-Fri) Data Technician to join our Digital Forensics team in our Newmarket office in Auckland. We need someone who has strong technical knowledge of PCs, Systems, Networks and Mobile devices. If you have some digital forensics training then that is great. However, we are happy to train the right person in the tools and techniques we use. What is more important, is that you have curious and investigative mindset. Finding data is what we do.We are a small, tight-knit and very friendly team who all support each other and we encourage where possible, a team approach to getting the job done and supporting our clients. Your role, once up to speed, will be to work with client systems and the data that is sent in for us to investigate. We often assist legal counsel and corporates with understanding what has happened to their data re: theft, fraud or ransom etc. We have a good name in this market and generate consistent business with a high success rate.The salary will depend on your skills, qualifications and experience. We will also commit to advancing your salary as you progress. Competency in manipulating data, an easy familiarity with technology and a curious nature are the most important characteristics we are after.About us:DataLAB is New Zealand's leading data recovery and digital forensics specialists. We have more than 15 years' experience in successfully recovering data and undertaking data-investigations for some of New Zealand's biggest organisations, small and medium-sized business, as well as everyday Kiwis. Our Digital Forensics services works particularly closely with Legal, Corporate and Investigative organisations.Our offices are in Newmarket, just a few minutes' walk from the hustle and bustle of Broadway with its excellent transport options; bus, train, motorway. There is easy parking just outside the office which we pay for and we also provide a lunch together on Fridays.Typical Job Tasks and activitiesWorking with our industry leading tools to seek out and catalogue data items for our clients (training in tools provided).Working on client Digital Forensic briefs along with colleagues (training provided).Preparing reports outlining the result of our investigations and analysisYou should be comfortable in speaking with clients over the phone and in explaining to them the results of our work.You should also be able to prepare written reports for clients according to our templates, structure and standards etc.You should have a good understanding of social media and modern tech as we are regularly asked to preserve evidence from the likes of Facebook, Instagram and other popular social media platforms.Adhering to strict confidentiality codes of conduct. We take the security of our clients data and their confidence most seriously. You will have to submit to a security check.Requirements - Key Skills, Qualifications and experience:Excellent English – Fluent - spoken and writtenNew Zealand Residency, Citizenship preferred or current Work Permit >2 yearStrong technical experience/knowledge of IT and data systemsNo conflict of interest with any other jobs/commitments you may haveNote: we do NOT require a degree or tertiary qualificationEasy commute to Newmarket.Good references and passing a security check.
