About the role
At OMD, we put the spotlight on what client service is all about: deep relationships, sharp thinking, and business transformation. The Associate Business Director (ABD) is a pivotal leadership role that sits at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and commerce, supporting client success, mentoring teams, and driving agency excellence.
You'll manage a portfolio of key clients, supporting and deputising for the Business Director or CSD, while also owning select accounts. This role is ideal for a future leader who blends strategic flair, digital confidence, and strong people skills.
We expect our ABDs to role-model our values-Build Together, Dare to Disrupt, and Unite to Uplift-and embody the mindset of a proactive partner, not a passive receiver of briefs. You're here to shape the work, grow your clients, and grow your people.
Skills and Expertise
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance big picture thinking and commercial detail
- Strong leadership capability-able to motivate and mentor others
- Confident communicator with excellent EQ and influencing skills
- Strong financial acumen: understands revenue, profit, billing processes, and reporting
- Proven ability to manage and grow client relationships at a senior level
- Excellent storytelling and presentation skills-able to simplify complex concepts
- Strong implementation planning knowledge across traditional and digital media
- Expert knowledge of the NZ digital ecosystem-platforms, publishers, tools, metrics
- Working knowledge of OMD Design,Omni and its application within planning cycles
- Understanding of attribution, data-led decision making, and media measurement tools
- Proven project management skills with the ability to prioritise, delegate, and deliver
- Curious mindset, always seeking improvement, learning, and smarter ways of working
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
