The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Banking team based in Auckland. Led by partners Dan Collins, Miriam Andrews, and Paul Farrugia (who heads our banking practice), you'll get the opportunity to work on a variety of deals including leveraged finance, structured finance, acquisition finance, mezzanine finance, project and construction finance, syndicated lending and debt restructuring. Our clients are diverse and include a mix of domestic and overseas clients that spans a across different industry sectors including financial services, property development, climate, transport, logistics, infrastructure, energy, hospitality, agriculture/forestry and telecommunications.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- 9 years' + PQE in general banking and finance law. Experience in leveraged finance is desired but not essential.
- Experience gained from private practice or in-house, with at least some of that experience gained in New Zealand
- Capability to draft and lead negotiations on core documentation
- Lead and manage complex banking and finance transactions
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients
- Mentor and supervise junior lawyers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience managing banking transactions according to deadlines.
