About the role

This full-time hours/week) Nurse Team Leader position at Ostend Medical Centre, part of the Waiheke Health Trust, offers the chance to lead a team of primary care nurses providing high-quality care to residents and visitors on beautiful Waiheke Island. As the Nurse Team Leader, you will play a key strategic role in overseeing the nursing team and ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide clinical leadership and direction to the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate patient care
  • Coordinate the scheduling and allocation of nursing resources to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the Waiheke Island community
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including a Nurse Practitioner, District Nurses and Well Child Tamariki Ora nurses, to develop and implement evidence-based nursing practices across the Waiheke Health Trust
  • Monitor and evaluate nursing performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Contribute to the development of clinical policies, procedures, budgets and quality and equity reporting
  • Mentor and support the professional development of the nursing team
  • Represent the nursing team in multi-disciplinary meetings and liaise with key stakeholders

What we're looking for

  • Registered Nurse with a current NZ practicing certificate
  • Minimum of 5 years' post-registration experience, with demonstrated leadership in a community nursing or primary healthcare setting
  • Experience working in rural medicine or community-based acute care preferred as there are not A&M services on Waiheke Island
  • Prescribing rights preferred
  • Excellent clinical skills and a deep understanding of community-based nursing practices
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a high-performing nursing team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals
  • Proficient in the use of clinical information systems and data analysis
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
