Auckland CBD, New Zealand MAT Recruitment Limited Full time

A leading contemporary architecture and interior design practice is seeking an experienced Commercial Interior Designer to join their Auckland studio. Known for their thoughtful, people-focused designs and an outstanding track record in commercial, education, and workplace interiors, this is a practice where design excellence meets delivery precision.

This is a hands-on role suited to a designer with at least five years of local experience in the commercial or workplace sector. You'll be confident taking a project from early concept and space planning through to detailed documentation and installation, and you will thrive in a collaborative team that values both creativity and technical strength.

Your work will span across innovative workplace environments, corporate fit-outs, and public-facing commercial spaces. You'll be involved in every stage – developing design concepts, preparing presentation material, producing technical documentation in Revit, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring the design intent is maintained through to on-site delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate interior design concepts that align with the client's vision and project strategy
  • Prepare concept presentations, finish boards, and material selections
  • Produce detailed Revit documentation for consent, tender, and construction phases
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers throughout the design and delivery process
  • Participate in site meetings and ensure quality outcomes during installation
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of architects, designers, and technicians

You will bring

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in commercial or workplace interior design
  • Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and general documentation standards
  • Strong design sensibility with an understanding of spatial planning, materials, and detailing
  • Excellent client presentation and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of NZ building codes, accessibility, and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a coordinated design team

What's on offer

  • Opportunity to work for a top-tier, design-led practice with a respected reputation in the industry
  • Exposure to award-winning projects and a high-performing studio culture
  • Collaborative environment where initiative and creativity are encouraged
  • Central Auckland location with a modern, open studio environment

How to apply

Please attach your CV and a concise 4-page portfolio highlighting key projects you have worked on. Your examples should include:

  • Project type, size, and scope
  • Your specific role and responsibilities
  • Images or drawings demonstrating both design and technical capability
  • Short explanations outlining design intent and outcomes

This role offers the chance to join a studio that genuinely values design craft, supports career development, and provides exposure to a diverse range of commercial interior projects across New Zealand.
