Our commercial Laboratory has an opportunity for someone to join us in a full-time position (based in our Christchurch Laboratory) as a Laboratory Technician working with asbestos sample preparation and analysis.

This role can be tailored to suit either a trainee (entry-level/prep technician) or an experienced asbestos technician*.

This is a permanent position in a dynamic, challenging and rewarding environment based in our Middleton branch, Christchurch. The role is completely laboratory based and involves the preparation of a variety of sample types for asbestos testing, supporting our busy commercial lab team. You'll play a key part in delivering high-quality analytical services to our clients.

Ideal working hours will be 40 hours per week, typically from 8.30am - 5pm Monday to Friday, although we are flexible around this.

**Key focus**Areas**
- Conducting lab administration duties to ensure efficient ongoing delivery of a quality analytical service to our clients
- Working closely with the extended team throughout Hill Labs
- Supporting our clients’ needs
- Carrying out preparation of air filters, soils, and bulk materials for asbestos analysis
- Asbestos analysis of air filters, soils, and bulk materials (experienced technician)
- Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Use of our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to record data

**Education & Experience**
- Relevant tertiary qualification in science desirable
- Previous experience in the asbestos industry or have a keen desire to gain experience in asbestos analysis (preferred but not required)
- Previous laboratory experience involving microscopy would be an advantage, but all training will be provided to the successful applicant
- Customer service & communication skills are essential to the role
- Please note: Three years’ experience in the asbestos industry is required for experienced technicians.
