About the role

Contego. is seeking an experienced Passive Fire Foreman to join our team in Canterbury. This full-time role will be responsible for leading a team of technicians in the installation and maintenance of passive fire protection systems across a range of commercial and residential properties.

What you'll be doing

  1. The successful candidate will be full-time (45 hours per week) and will be based in Canterbury, but able to work across NZ on occasion.
  2. Oversee the work of a team of passive fire technicians to ensure high-quality and timely installation and maintenance of passive fire systems.
  3. Provide technical guidance and support to the team, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  4. Coordinate the procurement of materials and manage project schedules to optimise efficiency.
  5. Liaise with clients, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver excellent customer service.
  6. Maintain detailed records and documentation related to all project work.
  7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our passive fire protection services.

What we're looking for

  1. Extensive experience as a passive fire technician, with a proven track record of leading teams (3+ years - similar trade skills will be considered).
  2. Strong technical knowledge of passive fire protection systems and relevant compliance standards.
  3. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  4. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients and stakeholders.
  6. Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in passive fire protection - NZQA Level 3 Passive Fire.
  7. A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel to job sites as required.
  8. Must have permanent work rights in NZ with no restrictions.
