Vine Grow Limited are looking for supervisor to handle and supervise a team of orchard workers consisting of 40-50 workers working in the Hawkes 's Bay region.

Job Type- Permanent Full Time Role

No of positions- 3

Hours of work: Minimum 30 hours

Pay Rate: $27-00 to $30.00 an hour.

Roles & Responsibilities-

· Establishing and overseeing strategic goals for the operations relating to safety, environmental, financial, crop quality and customer value delivery.

· Ensure weekly timesheets are prepared and signed off prior to required deadlines.

· Liaise with Orchard Manager daily to discuss continuity of orchard work programmes and communicate to teams.

· Coordinate with workers for day-to-day activities.

· Be responsible for all aspects of health and safety of teams while working in the orchard, ensuring. staffs are communicated with and aware of identified hazards at each site.

· Train and supervise orchard teams in aspects of orchard picking and pruning processes as required meeting seasonal demands.

· Conduct orchard inductions and toolbox team meetings with workers and outline how tasks are to be carried out.

· Ensure online documentation (induction forms) are complete within the set timeframe.

· Ensure training documents and SOPs are complete within the timeframe.

· Monitor daily procedures to ensure that proper quality is maintained.

· Handle onsite incidents and emergencies in a proactive manner.

· Create and maintain positive working relationships with workers.

· Ensure periodic maintenance and proper storage of relevant equipment and tools.

· Ensure other duties accomplishment as per the requirements by management or other departments.

· Ensures and authorizes servicing all equipment, land, and buildings to be maintained in respectable conditions.

Requirements and skills

  • Either relevant 2 years of experience in agriculture/ horticulture/ orchards or any tertiary or overseas qualification is acceptable.
  • Knowledge of the orchard processes and horticultural practices.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and methodically under pressure.
  • Promote a positive work environment and overall employee morale.

  • Ability to multi-task, take direction and work independently.
  • Understands and maintains confidentiality.
  • Willing and desire to work overtime hours during busy seasons.
