The role

As Senior Contracts Manager – Vegetation, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how Vector manages vegetation across our electricity network. You'll be responsible for overseeing contracts with our vegetation service providers, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant delivery of all vegetation activities. This includes managing contract renewals, negotiating rates, and ensuring our contractors meet the highest standards for safety and performance.

What sets this role apart is the opportunity to influence operational change and set up new processes in a critical area for Vector. You'll tackle the challenge of rapidly growing vegetation impacting network reliability, making a tangible impact on customer safety and service continuity. You'll also be involved in high-value contracts and contribute to strategic decisions, giving you a real say in how we deliver for Auckland and beyond.

You'll spend most of your time in the office, with regular field visits to conduct audits, meet with contractors and our customers. This is a role for someone who thrives on independence, is proactive in following up tasks, and enjoys building strong relationships with contractors, customers, and community groups.

Who are we looking for?

We envisage you'll have

• A wealth of experience in contract management, ideally within vegetation, utilities, council, or related sectors
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to mediate between contractors and stakeholders
• Knowledge of tree regulations relevant to electricity distribution (highly desirable)
• The ability to work independently, proactively manage tasks, actively contribute to H&S and adapt to changing priorities
• A hunger to learn new systems (e.g., Fulcrum, SAP, Grid Aware); prior experience is a bonus, but not essential.
