About the Role

Reporting to the Country Manager NZ, the Business Development Manager – Wholesale and Contractor (NZ) role is where you will drive growth in our Wholesale and Contractor market segments. This role focuses on building strong customer relationships, supporting account growth, and contributing to a collaborative, results-driven team. You will also play a key part in executing long-term sales strategies by promoting the Clevertronics brand and expanding market share.

Your key accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the wholesale and contractor channel by:
  • Adding value through application solutions and cost-benefit analysis
  • Understanding value drivers for contractors, their customers, and wholesalers
  • Maintain a regular call cycle and build strong relationships with electrical contractors and wholesale branches, tailoring solutions to their needs
  • Drive new business development, primarily targeting electrical contractors and wholesale outlets; occasional engagement with end users, architects, and fire engineers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects and solutions
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals and presentations
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements aligned with company objectives
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitors, and market conditions
  • Provide regular reporting and analysis of business development activities
  • Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Share market feedback with Sales & Marketing to support promotions and sales
  • Educate wholesalers, contractors, and branch personnel on products, merchandising, and technical information
  • Attend company and client functions, including occasional out-of-hours events
  • Support QMS/EMS initiatives by promoting quality and environmental policies
  • Perform additional duties as required by business needs

About You

Success in this role will require someone who is able to think strategically while building strong, lasting relationships. They will need to combine commercial insight with proactive problem-solving, communicate and negotiate effectively, and collaborate seamlessly across teams. They will also bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role within electrical, wholesale, construction, or technical industries
  • Electrical industry experience at a technical or commercial level (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain long-term relationships
  • Strategic thinker with ability to multi-task, identify growth opportunities, and manage projects
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent organization, presentation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Current valid driver's license
  • High energy, self-motivated, and well-organized
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to consolidate teams and foster long-term partnerships
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to mentor peers
